DescriptionThe University of Texas at Austin, College of Education, Department of Special Education is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in the area of Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) at the Assistant Professor level. The mission of this program area is to develop leading ECSE scholars through intensive mentoring, providing core content in ECSE and early language development, and rigorous training in research methods. Our department has robust graduate and undergraduate programs and is ranked #5 by US News & World Report. The innovative research from our department has a deep global impact. Our students and faculty are actively involved with topics such as naturalistic developmental behavioral interventions, supporting English language learners, early intervention and special education service delivery, assistive technology, and behavioral interventions for students with autism; and our graduate programs are driven by research that aims to support equitable educational opportunities for all members of society. We are committed to an intellectually diverse, welcoming and engaging working and learning environment and are seeking candidates whose research, teaching and service have prepared them to contribute to our commitment to serving students from across Texas, the country, and world, including those who have been historically underrepresented in higher education. The successful candidate for this position will have a strong potential for research excellence focused broadly on early childhood special education (ages birth-8). We are particularly interested in scholars pursuing research impact in the following exemplar areas: developmental and language delays, parent training/parent mediated interventions, early childhood special education classroom practices, early intervention service delivery, early autism interventions, early identification, interventions for young children with high support needs. We expect the successful candidate will have a strong record of (or potential for) securing external grants to support their program of research, at the level necessary to ensure the impact of their work. In addition, the successful candidate will be an excellent mentor and will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching in one or more of the following areas: behavior analysis, early intervention, early childhood special education classroom practices, quantitative methods for intervention research, language development and intervention, assessment of young children, early childhood intervention practices.
