Position description The Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences at the University of California, Davis, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate courses and conduct research during the 2024-2025 academic year. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Paleobiology, Geosciences or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates who have a background in the fields of both Geology and Paleobiology. The successful applicant will teach four undergraduate courses which could include: The Earth (GEL 1; an introductory general education course), Evolution: Science & World View (GEL 4, an introductory general education course), Physical Geology (GEL50/L; an introductory physical geology course), Earth History: Paleobiology (GEL 107; an upper-division course required for majors), Historical Ecology (GEL 144; an upper-division elective for majors), and/or similar courses as needed by the Department (see https://ucdavis.pubs.curricunet.com/Catalog/gel-courses-sc). The candidate should be prepared for some component of this teaching to be online, if necessary due to public health restrictions.
