Title Assistant Professor of Public Policy (Political Science)
School Harvard Kennedy School
Department/Area
Position Description
The John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in international and global affairs. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in political science (with a specialty either in international relations or comparative politics), a strong commitment to producing rigorous social scientific research, excellent teaching skills, and a demonstrable interest in engagement with the world of practice. This search focuses on candidates eligible for appointment as assistant or (untenured) associate professors. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching in the Harvard Kennedy School’s core curriculum for students in its Master of Public Policy program.

The search is open in terms of subject matter, but we particularly welcome applications from empirically-sophisticated political scientists whose work advances clear and compelling perspectives on interstate conflict, human rights, migration and refugee policy, environmental politics, and the politics of nuclear weapons. We are especially interested in scholars of these issues whose regional focus is Europe or Russia and the former Soviet Union.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, C.V., research statement, a description of past or planned teaching (along with teaching evaluations, if available), one or two writing samples, and three letters of recommendation at https://academicpositions.harvard.edu/postings/12482.

Applications should be submitted by September 5, 2023 in order to receive full consideration.
