Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $322,000 - $401,600. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Department of Radiology (http://radiology.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and due to continued growth in the division of Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiology, is seeking faculty radiologists in this subspecialty.

UC San Diego School of Medicine is ranked among the top research-intensive medical-school programs in the nation by US News & World Report. UC San Diego Health is the only academic health system serving San Diego and comprises UC San Diego Hillcrest Medical Center, Thornton Hospital, Jacobs Medical Center, Moores Cancer Center, Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, and Koman Outpatient Pavilion.

UC San Diego Department of Radiology is one of the most innovative and productive academic departments in the country, offering state-of the-art services for clinical and translational studies. The MSK Division has 9 faculty physicians and 6 MSP physicians covering UC San Diego Health, as well as leadership roles within the health system, and regional and national organizations.

Clinical responsibilities will include interpretation of diagnostic MSK imaging (radiographs, bone densitometry/DEXA, CT and MR) and on-site supervision of trainees and ultrasound technologists in MSK ultrasound examinations.

Candidates will also provide on-site service at our major locations for both interpretive and interventional services, although there will be opportunities for remote work and a home workstation will be made available by the department.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, candidates are expected to teach and educate medical students, residents, and fellows as well as participate in multidisciplinary conferences. As an extension of procedural requirements, candidates may need to complete training in moderate sedation, which is administered and certified by the UCSD Medical Staff office.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (Required at Time of Application)

Candidates must have a MD or equivalent.

Candidates must be Board eligible or Board certified in Diagnostic Radiology.

Candidates must also have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Additional qualifications (Required at Time of Start)

Candidates must have successfully completed at least a 1-year Musculoskeletal (MSK) fellowship and must be facile with triaging and performing MSK procedures and interventions, including joint injections/aspirations and selecting the appropriate imaging modalities in such procedures (fluoroscopy, ultrasound, or CT) at the time of the appointment start date. MSK ultrasound experience is required.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with experience in tendon procedures, PRP, and bone and soft tissue biopsies are preferred.
