Position description

The Office of Education Partnerships at the University of California, Santa Barbara, invites applicants for a Coordinator of the Southern Central Coast K-16 Collaborative.

The K-16 Coordinator is a full-time academic coordinator position that provides direct support to the Southern Central Coast Region, which includes San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties, to develop, align and improve pathways programs that combine academics, career technical education, work based learning, and comprehensive student support. The appointment will be through June 30, 2027.

The UCSB Office of Education Partnerships (OEP) mission is to increase the college-going rates of students who are underrepresented, low-income and/or those who will be the first in their families to pursue higher education. OEP’s vision is to promote inclusive and adaptive initiatives as well as strategic partnerships with university, school, community, and industry, such that more educationally underserved students will attend and thrive in college.

OEP will be integral in providing support for an Engineering/Computer Science, STEM Education, and Healthcare pathway for our southern region. The K-16 Coordinator will develop and maintain collaborative relationships with K16 educational segment partners across UCSB’s region (K12, CCC, CSU and UC), and industry and community partners. In addition, the Coordinator will work with grant partners to deploy and implement programs that incorporate educational, community, workforce, and employer engagement across the Central Coast which includes Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties to support equitable educational and economic opportunities for students and address equity barriers in career and technical education pathways in the areas of Healthcare, Engineering/Computing, and STEM Education. The Coordinator will formulate policies and procedures as it relates to each program support and services as well as provides leadership for developing and advancing short and long term program goals and strategies. Finally, the Coordinator will ensure compliance with mandated program requirements, represent the program internally and externally, develop and manage the operating budget, and supervise K-16 program staff.

Under the direction of the OEP Executive Director, the K-16 Coordinator will have responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  1. Serves as the regional lead for the southern Central Coast Collaborative to align K16 collaborative project workgroups and initiatives across the Central Coast California Economic Resilience Fund (CERF) region.

  6. Coordinate and compile the information on the southern region initiatives needed to include as part of the Collaborative’s quarterly progress reports as required by the funding agency.

  8. Serves as strategic communicator providing regular communications, project status briefings, recommendations and reports to collaborative steering committee, tri-chairs, work groups, members, other key stakeholders as well as campus senior leadership.
