University of Pennsylvania
United States

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will initially be for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years).

The Research Associate will study molecular mechanisms of the role of transcription factor YY1 in lineage commitment in B cells and other hematopoietic lineages.

Requirements for the position include a PhD in an area of molecular biology and 4 years of postdoctoral research experience.  Candidates should have extensive experience in B cell development, immunoglobulin gene structure, mechanisms of exploring large-scale chromatin 3D interactions, RNA-seq, and single-cell RNA-seq.  Bioinformatics experience for evaluating large RNA and genomic datasets is highly desirable, as is ability to mentor undergraduate, PhD, or veterinary students in research.  A strong publication record is preferable.
