Senior Lecturer in Computer Science

UCC wishes to appoint an experienced academic to the role of Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Associate Professor internationally) of Computer Science (Trustworthy AI). Reporting to the Head of School, Professor Dirk Pesch, the appointee will steer and strengthen the School’s research and teaching interests in Trustworthy AI and aligned to UCC Future on Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. UCC Futures is an ambitious new programme of research prioritisation coupled with an innovative academic recruitment strategy across ten indicative areas of strategic importance that will build a foundation for economic, societal and cultural resilience and prosperity. https://www.ucc.ie/en/futures/#what-is-ucc-futures.
 
The School’s strategy is to expand its research and teaching in the area of Trustworthy AI and candidates with such expertise are encouraged to apply. The School seeks to appoint a committed academic in computer science (or from a cognate discipline), a dynamic and thoughtful person who will drive its research-led teaching ethos and research agenda.
The School of CSIT currently has 30 full-time academic staff and offers degrees at Bachelor, Master and Doctoral levels.  It offers a welcoming and open working environment, with excellent administrative and technical support, and an inclusive collegiate experience supported by family friendly policies at UCC.
 
Academic staff in the school have leadership roles in major national and international research initiatives, including the Research Ireland funded research centres, CONNECT (Centre for Future Networks and Communications), Insight (Centre for Data Analytics), and LERO (Irish Software Research Centre) as well as several Horizon Europe projects including the AI4Europe project.
 
In addition, school academics spearhead and host the Research Ireland Centre for Research Training in Advanced Networks for Sustainable Societies and the Research Ireland Centre for Research Training in Artificial Intelligence.

Appointment may be made on the Senior Lectureship Salary Scale: €81,450 - €115,407 (Scale B) / €78,958- €109,637(Scale A)  
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
